EROTICA x FILTH

Welcome to the strange and sensual world of Dustin Midnight, a master of storytelling when it comes to Monster Erotica. With stories that can make you laugh, cry, and feel uncomfortable all at once, Dustin’s writing is always sure to captivate. From mythical creatures to demons, his work covers a wide range of topics and creatures, all with one thing in common – an undeniable sexual tension. Whether you’re looking for an escape from reality, or just to explore the depths of your imagination, Dustin Midnight‘s Monster Erotica is the perfect place to start.

What can you tell me about your latest project? What is it about?

Well, for me, I have a few good projects, I’m close to finishing the third Bordello book, But I’m also working on a few projects like The Demon Harem and even The War Goddess Husband and American Monster and a sequel called To Marry a Succubus.

How does it differ from what you’ve previously written

Well, I try to make them different as much as possible. From the type of Girls the main character meets, and the situation that gets them into. While in Bordello, Our Main character finds himself chosen to be the new owner of the Bordello. In The Demon Harem, Our main character finds himself in this situation after a bad tinder date, when he learns his Date is trying to sacrifice him for her purpose. Or in The War Goddess, the main character meets the Goddess, and she offers him a deal he can’t refuse. And Then with American Goddess, Our main character deals with an ever-changing world and needs to Adapt to a new world while having to be a guild.

Is it fair to say your favoured sub-genre depends on strong characters? Which are your favourites to write?

I’m a fan of Writing an Average Joe, Cause well, not everyone can go around being a badass super soldier or the Chosen One from some great prophecy. We have to go out and get a job to support our family or make it through this world. I also find it fun when we take a normal guy going through everyday problems, like dealing with a boss, dealing with bills, heck, just trying to find love, and dropping him in a strange situation; I mean, imagine going out having a good time with your friends and waking up and finding out you married to a vampire, cause you had too many drinks, or oh no That angel who suddenly became your roommate, blew up your Microwave cause it didn’t cook the meal all the way through.

What’s the one area you’d in your creative process that you’d like to improve the most?

That one might be a tougher question to answer, cause personally, in each book, I improve on one thing or another. Still, I guess what I’ve improved on the most is just expanding my ideas and letting them flow a bit more naturally, I look back at some of the other stories and think that they could have been longer or I made them a little too short, and could have expanded it or explained something better.

Which authors do you admire the most or have impacted your work?

I admire various authors and have made an impact on my work that helped; Stephen King had some of the biggest effects. Especially when I read his book on Writing cause, he gave me the idea of not worrying too much about the plot and relying more on the situation, which you notice in my writing; the story seems to rely more on situations. It’s how they start; the main character finds themselves in a strange. He also normally picks ordinary people, sure writers. But when you look at them, they are flawed people who just get into bad situations. Take Paul Sheldon. He was an average writer, the guy just wanted to escape his popular book series, but then one accident, and boom, now he’s got to deal with Annie Wilks, his number one fan.

What helps your books stand out content-wise?

Regarding my books, I’m somewhat willing to take risks on some things. Also, I’m willing to take my time on each book and not pump and dump them. If you look at writers like Harem-lit, few take chances with their stories. The best of the people who write Harems, I would Consider Ailovestogrow, Annabelle Hawthorne, and Even Virgil Knightly; they bring something interesting to the table. Their work is quality over quantity for the most part. But then you get some of the ones who find themselves more popular yet are just more repetitive while pump out stories, for 7 books that could have been three books, and the characters don’t make much change. Treating stories like it’s going out of style. It makes them a lot of sales, yet at the same time, some of them feel flat. Or feels by the numbers, especially when it comes to continuity.

Which book would you say is your stand-out title

My stand-out title would have to be The Descent of Orpheus Barns into Super animals, now that one was fun to write. It’s a take on the in-another-world story or Isekai as some would know it. Plus, me having fun with Superheroes. I think you would enjoy it; I removed it completely from this book because of one of your complaints about me cursing so much in Bordello. The Characters don’t have so much of a sailor’s mouth. In this story, you have a man finding himself in a world with well super animals, and I’ll even give an example of one of these characters. There is the Heroine, Webby, or her hero name Night Web. She was inspired by a combination of Nightwing and Spider-man, where she is a giant arachnid woman who can control her webs and move them around with perfect control; she was trained by their version of Batman, The brown recluse. While people call her Webby (Her sidekick name), This is inspired by the fact most people still consider Dick Grayson Robin, while he’s been NightWing, in the comics for a long time.

What’s the next book that you’re working on?

This one is fun cause once I finish up the third Bordello book, I’ll be focusing on The Demon Harem and the War Goddess; I’m writing up what events are taking place in the book itself at this moment while I’m deep in each chapter. Then I’ll be able to focus on American Monsters, which should be a fun project. When those are done, I’ll be working on a sequel for The Descent of Orpheus Barns 2 and the fourth Bordello book.
